Drop Everything and READ
When was the last time that you picked up a book? Remember how satisfying it was to submerse yourself in a different place, a different time? How the characters got under your skin and made their lives engrossing and real? How it all made you forget your troubles and trials even if just for a little while?
Well, if you need an excuse to take a vacation from your world, here it is. Wednesday, April 12 is D.E.A.R. Day: Drop Everything and Read.
Many years ago, Beverly Cleary introduced D.E.A.R. in her Ramona Quimby, Age 8 book. Originally intended to promote reading among children, D.E.A.R. Day has become a national event, the highlight of a month-long celebration for readers of all ages. So drop everything and pick up a book. Cut out a little time in your day to get reacquainted with that book you started weeks ago, or get into a new one.
My Fantasy author friends and I are making it extra enticing, with a sale, a confab, and a giveaway.
Visit the FSFNet Web site for a list of and links to discounted Fantasy and Science Fiction books.
Click here to go to the FSFNet D.E.A.R. Author Chat Event on Facebook. I’ll be hosting at 10:30 a.m. EST so come and let’s share what we love about books.
And don’t forget to enter that giveaway for a chance to win a $20 amazon gift card, which you could spend on what? Oh I don’t know, BOOKS?
Tell your Mom, your spouse, you boss, that I gave you permission to Drop Everything and Read!
